What is Speech & Language Therapy?
Speech and Language Therapy aims to maximise a person’s ability to communicate effectively with others across different contexts. Communication plays an important role in life as it allows individuals to make sense of the world around them, interact meaningfully with others and express their thoughts and feelings.
Communication can occur in various forms, such as the use of non-verbals (e.g. gestures and facial expressions), spoken words, or through assistive technology (e.g. typing on an iPad). A speech-language therapist can assess and provide suitable intervention based on the needs of each individual.
